Yiannis Doxaras, MSc.

Yiannis Doxaras has study theoretical physics in University of Athens, National Technical University of Athens  and University of Cambridge. His research areas span Quantum Complexity theory, Quantum Computer implementations - especially bosonic systems - and simulation of strongly non-linear systems with probabilistic and analytical methods.  He is co-founder of Niobium Labs and currently serves as chief technology manager. Yiannis has worked for all major telco providers in Greece and Vodafone in London and has either managed or participated in Greek Government projects of total cost that exceeds 4M euro.

Specializes in location aware mobile applications (iphone, android, blackberry ) and vertical geo-marketing solutions. Yiannis is an active commiter in various open source projects mainly with java, python, php and ruby technologies. He is a serial entrepreneur and innovation broker in Greece and Balkans. He is also co-founder of OSIS, a Greek open source startup company that provides turn key solutions in industries like travel, e-learning and e-government.

Dr. George P. Kremmydas

Dr. George P. Kremmydas, General Manager of Niobium Labs , received his B.Sc. Honours Degree in Physiology in 1994 (Dep. of Physiology, Univ. of Leeds, UK) and his PhD in Computational Cardiology in 2000 (Dep. of Biomedical Sciences, Univ. of Leeds, UK). He has worked as an external researcher and lecturer for the Universities of Ioannina and Patras. He is in charge of the Research Technology and Development Department of the Local Union of Municipalities and Communities of Kefalonia and Ithaki (LUMC-KI).

Remaining a strong advocate of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing scientific, technological, social and political challenges he has worked in research, the public as well as the private sector. His research interests lie in the field of computational and mathematical physiology as well as in the history and the social function of science. In the public sector his work focused in the exploitation of science and technology for regional development. In 1998 he established and organized the RTD Department of LUMC-KI, which in collaboration with the local authorities of the region was responsible for the design and implementation of key eGovernment, eLearning, broad-band and IT-infrastructure projects. In the private sector he has worked as a consultant as well as a project manager in IT projects.

He is the co-founder of Symvan Ltd, a consulting company focusing in regional development projects for both the public and the private sector. He is also the co-founder of OSIS a Greek open source startup company that provides integrated solutions in industries like travel, e-learning and e-government.

 

Giannis Sissakis

Mr. Sissakis Giannis co-founder of Niobium Labs Ltd. holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2003). He is currently completing his Doctorate Engineering thesis on Modular Robotics. He is experienced in both mechanical and electrical engineering including design of mechanisms, electronics and embedded systems design, embedded software development, micro-controller and micro-processor systems, sensor technologies, automatic control, renewable energy sources.

He has been employed as an electronics designer for CNC manufacturing by IDA Control, turbo-charger engineer by ABB Greece, embedded systems designer and automation specialist by ZENON SA. Since 2004 he has co-owned ZeroOne Mechatronics, a company providing advanced, custom technological solutions for complex systems on request. With ZENON SA he has participated in numerous EU research programs including PIPESCAN (autonomous robotic pipe inspection crawler), GNOSYS (cognitive robotics), I-STONE (image acquisition and processing), RENEWIT (robotic system for inspection of wind turbine blades), HULL INSPECTOR (autonomous vehicle with locomotion capabilities on the exterior of a ship’s hull) etc.

 

Dimitris Togias

Mr. Dimitris Togias co-founder of Niobium Labs Ltd., is a senior researcher and project manager with development experience in distributed control systems, vision, robotics, mechatronics and software development of large scale commercial applications. He studied Mechanical Engineering in National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and then continued his studies in NTUA as an Electrical and Computer engineer.

He has been employed as a software engineer for ANCO S.A. where he has participated in a number of commercial projects such as the design, implementation and installation of a large scale automation and maintenance SCADA system for CYTA (Cyprus Telecommunications Company), and the development of an AVL Fleet Management system using TETRA, GSM/GPRS and RF communications. Since 2004 he has co-owned ZeroOne Mechatronics, a company providing advanced, custom technological solutions for complex systems on request. He has also been working as a project manager for EUROPEAN DYNAMICS S.A. in a numerous EU research programs including EVOTEST (automatic software testing framework), AGENT-DYSL (a software for dyslexic children) and TERAEYE (a low cost and fully passive THz inspection system). He is also a member of the ACM and the Technical Chamber of Greece.

 

Antonios Bouloubasis, PhD

Dr. Bouloubasis co-founder of Niobium Labs, began his studies in the United Kingdom in 1998. He obtained his Bachelor’s of Engineering (BEng) from the University of Sussex under the School of Engineering, in Robotics and Automated Manufacture in 2001. He continued his studies at the University of Reading at the School of Systems Engineering where he obtained his Masters in Cybernetics in 2002. His Master’s Thesis investigated the ‘Cooperative Transportation of Extended Payloads’, and led to the development of the two 'Reading Rovers'.

As a researcher his interests laid in the area of Space Robotics and in particular in Terrestrial Exploration Systems Design. His efforts led to the development of the Multi-Tasking Rover (MTR), which has been internationally acknowledged. He successfully defended his Thesis in 2008. At the age of 29 he is the author of 9 conference papers, 2 journal publications, a book chapter, has filled 1 patent and has been nominated 3 times in international competitions. His area of expertise lies in systems design.
